aNTI-BACTERIAL VS ANTI-MICROBIAL

image5

BY: KIMBERLY ROWAN SENIOR PIERCER, STUDIOS OWNER, JEWELRY DESIGNER

Soaps with anti-microbials are much more effective at killing pathogens than just an anti-bacterial soap.  For many years, the markets have been over flooded with anti-bacterial products. There are millions of  anti-bacterial products in commercial and residential products including dish soaps and hand soaps, hand santizers, lotions and cleaning sprays and so much more.  From the overuse in all the daily products, we have become immune to the effectiveness of anti-bacterials.  It’s been proven that anti-bacterials  are just not strong enough for wound care and wound care is what we are talking about when we talk about healing a piercing.  A piercing is inflicting a wound by penetrating the skin with a needle which removes some tissue and then inserting a piece of jewelry into that piercing. In order to get this “wound” to heal properly, you will need an anti-microbal soap for the basic routine cleaning.
