Determining measurements

Measuring guide for body jewelry

Two essential Body Jewelry measurements are the gauge and the length of the barbell or the size (diameter) of the ring. To get the perfect fit, you need both the gauge and post length/ ring diameter measurements.

Gauge: Thickness of the post or hoop (the part that goes through your piercing. If the gauge is too thin, your piercing may shrink down to that size and you won't be able to wear thicker jewelry. If it's too thick, it will not go into your piercing and if you force it, you may tear the piercing. We recommend consulting with a Professional Piercer to inform you which gauge you were pierced in and which length/ diameter they would recommend for your jewelry.

Barbell Length: This is how long the bar is. This measurement is made between the end balls. This measurement is important because if the bar is too short, it will cause irritation, and could pressurize the piercing.

Curved barbells are measured in a straight line across the curve.
