After many years of different aftercare products and different approaches, I have found something I believe is a winner to make this healing process so much more comfortable and easy. This is my secret weapon in my arsenal of aftercare products. I use Big Betty’s All Natural Piercing Aftercare and we sell tons of it in our studios. It’s a gel that goes directly onto the piercing and onto the jewelry. It is made with only natural products and it is vegan and gluten free along with non comedogenic which means that it will not clog pores. The main ingredient in this aftercare is the BUCHU oil which is what drives this product for me.
Buchu is a plant that is indigenous to Cape Town South Africa. It grows up in the mountainous regions and is harvested to produce it’s very effective and potent oil. Buchu oil pre-dates to a very early time in history as being used as a natural remedy to cure many different diseases. Buchu oil is well known in the naturopath world and health food world. The buchu plant produces an oil which is a strong anti-microbial and a very strong anti-inflammatory. There have been many lab tests and many scientific studies on the buchu oil to prove it’s effectiveness in killing pathogens including viruses and bacteria. It has been proven to be a very strong effective oil when it comes to healing wounds. A very natural approach that is extremely effective.
Big Betty’s piercing aftercare is in a gel form and it comes in a 4 oz jar. A little dab onto a new piercing and around the outer edge will do you. It keeps the inflammation down which takes away the pain. No more itching and chaffing. Big Betty’s will keep the piercing moisturized and it will calm it down and make a really nice comfortable heal. Used 2xs a day it will prevent infections. I’ve also noted that this has helped to make a for a much faster recovery on all my body art. Big Betty’s All Natural Aftercare makes 2 products: piercing aftercare and tattoo aftercare.
Piercing hasn’t been around forever so we have all tried many different approaches over the years and tried to get it right. Not to say, that we are done with trial and error on different products but we are starting to narrow it down to a few good common sense products. As a general rule, I suggest always to go with all natural products. Avoid unnecessary chemicals and alcohol on your piercings and to always ask a lot of aftercare questions from your professional piercer.
