ROUTINE AFTERCARE SET UP

image7

by: Kimberly Rowan Senior Piercer Studio Owner Jewelry Designer

Be prepared to start your daily aftercare routine on day one of a new piercing.

Getting into the “routine” of routine aftercare will be easy if you take the time right before or right after you get home to prep a space in your bathroom for just aftercare.   Set up a small washrag or towel on your countertop.  Have an easy access storage container for q-tips, cotton swabs and any other items you may need.  I always like to leave a small bowl on the counter to use as a trash container to throw in the used cotton swabs and any papers or used q-tips.   I find it makes a lot less clutter around me not to have used items all over the place while I do my aftercare routine.  Empty the trash bowl when you are done.  Always keep the area clean.  Use a spray bottle of alcohol to clean off the countertop area.  Don’t use it on any piercings.  It is way too drying and will delay your healing progress.  Be near the sink where you have access to clean water.  You will need a shot glass to make your sea salt solution.  Clean the shot glass after each use so that it is ready for the next use.  If possible, have a fresh roll of paper towels on the counter to use for drying your piercings.  Setting up this area with all your aftercare items will make it very convenient and easy for you to stay on a routine- which can lead to a successfully healed piercing.
